Meet Rachel

Bourke Street Vintage is not just a business to me, it’s an extension of who I am as a person.

I delight in sharing my love of all things beautiful, vintage, antique, unique, cast aside or preloved with all that I meet. I love the hunt to find the next wonderful thing, and telling the story of where I found a piece and why it is beautiful and special. I also love meeting people, making a connection and talking - really talking.

A love of all things beautiful, antique and vintage runs in my blood, as many of my relations from both sides of the family were antique dealers, furniture restorers and pickers. This could be why I have an uncanny knack of being able to find the most special or expensive thing in the room that no one else can. I just seem to know.

I seek out and handpick everything I sell myself, absolutely everything. All the hard work has been done for you, all you have to do is decide what treasure to take home.

A bit of history Bourke Street Vintage

A bit of history...

Bourke Street Vintage was never a plan, it just happened. It has been a lot of hard work and a series of wonderful events, one leading to the next.

In 2016 I fell unwell with Lupus, an autoimmune disease, and decided to move back to my home town for family support. As it turns out, it was the best decision I have made.

I slowly started doing up old bits of furniture in my dining room with chalk paint and selling the items on social media.  This is where the name came from, as I live in Bourke Street, Glen Innes. The name is a tribute to the first home I bought when I was still working as a real estate agent.

As demand grew my projects got bigger and my house smaller. My brother came home for Easter and said “Rach, this is ridiculous! Why don’t you get a shop down the main street?” So I got a small shop, and within weeks I needed a bigger shop.

I expanded and added vintage secondhand furniture, home decor and antiques. Bourke Street Vintage grew and got to the stage that I had no time to paint anymore. Looking back on the journey, the shop has come a long way since it started in mid-2019.
